Solgar’s Lactase is a chewable digestive aid for those who suffer from lactose intolerance. Lactase is the key enzyme responsible for the breakdown of lactose, a disaccharide sugar found in dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurts. Lactose intolerance is a genetic or environmentally induced condition, usually first seen in adulthood, where the body cannot continue to produce enough lactase to properly digest dairy products. In the absence of lactase, lactose passes intact into the colon, resulting in fermentation and the production of gas. The effects of lactose intolerance can include upset stomachs, bloating, cramps, excess gas and diarrhoea. This product can be taken alongside the consumption of dairy products to reduce the likelihood of the symptoms of lactose intolerance arising. Free from dairy, soya, yeast, preservatives, artificial colours and flavours. This product is suitable for vegans.
